Professor Victor Ansa graduated from the Medical School, University of Benin-Benin-City Nigeria in 1985. He obtained the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians in Internal Medicine in April 1998 after training at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital and the University College Hospital Ibadan. He was appointed Lecturer 1 in the University of Calabar the same year and Honorary Consultant Physician and Cardiologist at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital in 2000. He rose to the rank of Professor of Medicine in 2011. He was Examinations officer in the Department of Internal Medicine from 2004 to 2006, became acting Head of Department of Internal Medicine 2006-2008 and Substantive Head of department from 2012 to 2014 a position he relinquished upon being elected as Dean, Faculty of the then Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in October 2014. As the Dean Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry he midwifed successfully the young Faculty of Dentistry from 2014-2016. .He subsequently also ensured a seamless creation of the Faculty of Dentistry from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. He therefore became the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Medicine till October 2018. He is External examiner to several Medical schools in Nigeria Professor Ansa is very involved in Postgraduate Medical Education. He is a College and Faculty Board member of the West African College of Physicians and the Chief Examiner of the Faculty of Internal Medicine -an office concerned with preparing and overseeing the conduct of postgraduate examinations for the College in the West African sub region. This process produces the medical lecturers employed by the various Universities for their medical schools. He was appointed the Chairman of Committee of Deans for the 2015-2016 session. By virtue of this position he was a member of the University Management from October 2015 to October 2016. He is a very keen researcher and has published several articles in peer review journals. He has been site Principal Investigator for the following Landmark studies: the IMPI-Trial, the RELY-AF Registry, INTER-CHF Registry and the currently the Global –CHF study. He is also a recipient of the TETFUND Institutional grant. Professor Ansa is presently the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences of the University of Calabar and member of the University management
