Dr. Chigozie Ikechukwu Uzomba joined the University of Calabar in 2016 as a Lecturer I. He had Primary Education at central school Oforola (1979 – 1985) and Junior Secondary School at Community Secondary Oforola (1986 – 1988) both in Owerri West LGA, Imo State where he obtained excellent grades. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School, Wuse, Abuja for Senior Secondary Education. He sat for the West African Senior Secondary School Examination in 1991 and passed with wonderful grades. He then gained admission the same year (1991) to study Zoology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained B.Sc. degree in Zoology in 1996 and proceeded for the National Youth Service in 1997. Dr. Uzomba, being driven with passion to save lives especially children, went back to study medicine and surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1998. He graduated with MBBS degrees in 2004. He proceeded for housemanship at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State from 2004 to 2005. In 2006, he started postgraduate residency training programme in paediatrics at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. He obtained the fellowship of the West Africa College of Physicians, Faculty of Paediatrics in 2015. He is currently an honorary consultant paediatrician with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital and subspecializing in paediatric nephrology where he is rendering clinical services to paediatric nephrology patients, teaching medical and dental students and resident doctors and conducting research. He was examination officer in the department of Paediatrics, University of Calabar from 2016 to 2018. He has 15 scholarly articles and still counting published in both international and local peer review journals. He had attended 19 local and one international conferences and presented papers in both conferences organised by the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN). He is a member of many professional bodies in the field of medicine including; Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN), Paediatric Nephrology Association of Nigeria (PNAN) and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) and a fellow of the West African College of Physicians. He is a Christian and married with children.
