About Dr. Udumo Bassey Obeten

Dr. Udumo, Bassey Obeten started work as a library Porter at the University of Cross River State Okuku Campus, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State of Nigeria in 1990. He worked hard and long and earned his promotion/upgrade to the rank of Library Assistant in 1993. Following the creation of Akwa Ibom State from old Cross River State, he was among those absorbed into the University of Calabar in 1992 due to his outstanding performance and dedication to duty. Dr. Udomo then started as library assistant in University of Calabar, Cross River State. Again, his dedication and commitment to duty earned him, his promotion/conversion in 1998 as Administrative Assistant. Then, in 2011, he applied and was speedily approved to be converted to academic staff, at the rank of Assistant Lecturer, having gathered the needed and necessary qualification and experience for the post. Dr. Bassey Obeten known for his hard work and commitment to duty was promoted to the rank of lecturer II in 2014 and again in 2017 was promoted to lecturer I. heading to senior lecturer by this 2020. Meanwhile, he started his academic pursuit at St. Mary’s Primary School Ugep in 1973 to 1979. After his first school leaving certificate 1979, he went to Community Secondary School Ugep in 1981 and finished in 1986. Not done yet, his thirsty for knowledge, saw him applying for and getting admitted in University of Calabar1997 and because of unavoidable long strike, he finished in 2005 and begged B.Ed in Adult Education. Then immediately started his Master’s Degree in Environmental Education which he finished in 2008. Not satisfied with his level of education, he went for his Ph.D in curriculum and instruction in the department of curriculum and teaching all at this University of Calabar. Dr. Bassey Obeten is a team player and friendly to all that come his way his willingness and eagerness to help others was recognized in 2014 by the then student union government of University of Calabar. And he was giving the Award of Excellence. He has mentored and supervised over 20 students in B.Ed and 2 M.Ed students. He has attended both local and international conferences where he both participated and presented papers. He has done so many scholarly research work in various field of interest in his area of specialization. He has collaborated with like minds in some of his research work. He has researched and published over 15 scholarly researched work in both local and international peer review journals. Dr. Obeten, as he is fondly called by friends and close associates is happily married to his heartthrob Mrs. Nwenji and the union is blessed with lovely four children.
