About Mrs. Patience Bassey Opeh

Dr Patience Bassey Opeh is currently serving the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria as Research Fellow specializing in Fisheries and Aquaculture. She joined the University in 2016 as Assistant Research Fellow in the Institute. Mrs Opeh holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Marine Biology and Fisheries and Aquaculture awarded by the University of Calabar in 2006 and 2015, respectively. Additionally, she has also obtained certificates on Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, Oil Tanker Familiarization, Elementary First Aid Certificate, special swimming and Water Safety and Diploma in Computer and Maritime Logistics. Since joining the University, she has been teaching and researching, thereby contributing to graduation of Diploma in Marine Science students and development of the University at large. She has participated and presented papers in various local and international conferences and has published several papers in both local and international peer reviewed journals. She has also served the University in other capacities including Coordinator of Marine Science programme in the Institute of Oceanography (2017 till date), Assistant Farm Manager in the University of Calabar Fish Farm (2016 – 2018), Institute of Oceanography Representative to the Faculty of Management Sciences and Allied Medical Science between 2017 till date. She is a member of various professional bodies and Associations including Fisheries Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Food Science & Technology, West African of Toxicology and Marine Atmosphere and Coastal Ocean Research Network. She is happily married with children.
