About Dr. Oliver Okey Oji

Dr. Oliver Enuoh is a lecturer in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management, University of Calabar, Nigeria. He undertook his Master’s degree in biodiversity conservation at Yale University (School of Forestry and Environmental Studies), USA, and doctorate degree at The University of Reading, UK, with the support of the Ford Foundation and Commonwealth Scholarship respectively. He is a restoration ecologist and forest biodiversity conservation specialist with several years of field experience at home and abroad on the subject. He is a Commonwealth Scholar, Ford Foundation International Fellow, Compton Foundation Fellow, World Bank Consultant on UN-REDD (Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) Programme in developing countries, and former Africa Representative on the Board of Directors of Society for Ecological Restoration International, Washington DC. His areas of research interests are (a) tropical biodiversity conservation challenges in a globally changing climate, (b) the natural and social underpinnings of flora and fauna species depletion and extinction in tropical parks and protected areas, (c) ecological assessments and ecological restoration in government forest reserves and community forests, (d) urban ecologies and ex-situ conservation initiatives, (e) oil activities, coastal water pollution and aquatic biodiversity conservation in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, and (f) UN-REDD Programme challenges in developing countries.
