EmailLynda-Uta Edet Okon is a research scientist whose area of focus is in Coastal sedimentology and hydrodynamics. Ms. Okon obtained a B.Sc degree in Marine Geology in 2009 and an M.Sc. degree in Marine Sedimentation in 2014 both from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. Additionally, she obtained certificates in Computer appreciation and Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institution in 2007 and 2012 respectively. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2010 as a Research Assistant and rose through ranks and was promoted to Research Fellow II in October 2017, a position which she presently holds. Ms Okon has served diligently in various capacities in the university including; Examinations Officer (2011 - 2013), two-term Coordinator, Diploma in Marine Science (2013 - 2017); Institute representative in various Faculty Boards; Member, Institute Graduate Committee, LOC Member of the International Conference on Oceanography and Public lecture, both organized by Institute of Oceanography, University Of Calabar, Calabar. She as participated in various conferences both local and international where she has presented several scholarly papers. She has three academic publications in reputable journals. Ms. Lynda-Uta Okon is a beneficiary of several grants and fellowships including; University of Calabar Study Fellowship (2011), Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe postgraduate scholarship award (2011) and Ocean Energy Nigerian Ltd Nigerian Universities Scholarship (2002). She plays active role in the Physical Oceanography unit research activities and is also involved in the teaching of several courses in diploma and undergraduate within the University. She is a member of various professional bodies and associations such as Ocean Expert and an associate member of Research and Development management association (RADMA).
