About Mrs. Mayen Ndaro Igajah

Igajah, Mayen Ndaro, an academic icon, was employed in 2005 at the University of Calabar Library as a Higher Library Officer and grew to the position of Senior Library Officer. In 2014, she converted to academics as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science. Dr. (Mrs.) Mayen Igajah holds a Ph.D degree in Library and Information Sciences and is currently the Library skills Coordinator in the University. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education (Literacy and Vocational Education in 2005, a Masters Degree in Library Science (MLS) in 2012 and a Ph.D in Information Sciences in 2019 all from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. Her areas of interest are user studies, information literacy and cataloguing. She has practiced Librarianship for sixteen years and has been involved in the education and training of Librarians through her professional experience. Dr. Mayen Igajah has published several articles in reputable national and international journals and attended several conferences, seminars and workshops where she made presentations and contributions. She has also received honours and awards for professional diligence, leadership that contributed national development. Some of them are; University of Calabar Study Fellowship, 2014-2019 (Ph.D), University of Calabar Study Fellowship, 2008-2012 (MLS). Dr, Mayen Igajah is certified by the Librarians’ Registration Council (LRCN) and is a member of the Nigerian Library Association. She is also a member of the National Association of Library and Information Science Education and a member of the Society of Christian Scholars. In addition, she has served the University Library as Secretary, Library committee, Head of Unit in the special Education Library, Medical Library and Unit Head Science and Technology Library. She is a member of a fruitful outreach ministry called to help in shaping lives and destinies through the instrument of the word of God. She is also a member of Blessed Me Initiative, a non-governmental organization aimed at providing funds and creating a reading culture and information literacy in society. Her interests and publication can be accessed from the website. Dr. Igajah is a mother of four who derives inspiration from God and desire for a positive change in society.
