EmailDr. (Mrs) Helen Akpama Andong hails from Agoi Ibami in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2013 as Lecturer II. She holds an NCE in Home Economics in 1992 from Federal College of Education, Obudu. She backed her B.Ed in Adult and Continuing Education, specializing in English and Literacy studies in 2004. Hold her M.Ed in 2006 and Ph.D in 2012 in Literacy and Vocational Education, all from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education in University of Calabar, Calabar. Since joining the University, she has been teaching and researching thereby contributing her quota to the development of the Faculty and University at large. She has served the Department at various capacities as student Academic Adviser/ Examination Officer in 2014-2016; Member, Faculty of Education Homecoming Committee 2017; Member, Departmental Vetting and Quality Assurance Committee and Member, Faculty Teaching Practice Committee 2018 to date. Before joining Unical, Dr. (Mrs) Helen Andong has worked with Cross River State Universal Basic Education and rose to the rank of Principal Mistress Special Grade I and has headed many schools. She has also lectured as part-time lecturer (CES) in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education from 2009-2012. She has published many articles in Journals and has contributed chapters in books. She has attended many conferences and workshops. She is a widow married to Late Hon. Akpama Arekam Andong and the marriage was blessed with five (5) children.
