Dr Fina Otosi Faithpraise, an Engineer and a Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Calabar, assumed duty as an Assistant Lecturer in Physics Department, Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT) Units in 2008. She was promoted to the rank of Senior lecturer in 2017. Dr Faithpraise received a B. Eng. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria in 2001, M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics (Electronics /Communication) from University of Calabar in 2007 and a Ph.D) in Engineering and Design with specialisation in Automated systems and digital image processing from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom in 2014. Her main research focus includes machine learning, pattern recognition, Computer vision, network security, biomedical engineering and engineering design. She has been teaching, mentoring and contributing to the graduation of students in the University. She is a registered member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulation of Engineering bodies in Nigeria. Dr Faithpraise has published many research articles in both local and international peer reviewed journals. She has also brought her wealth of knowledge on publishing textbooks and practical manuals in the field of Engineering and Information Technology. She has participated in so many conferences both locally and international and have presented papers. Dr Faithpraise is a reviewer for some Journals in her area of specialisation. She holds a patent for the invention multipurpose solar voltage charger. Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Faithpraise has held so many positions of responsibilities in the University of Calabar including the position of a Deputy Director, Information and Communication Technology and pioneer Head of Department of Computer Engineering in the University of Calabar.
