About Mrs. Esther Esien-Cobham Uzoh

Uzoh, Esther Esien-Cobham, is a Professional Social Worker (registered) and a lecturer at the Department of Social Work, Social Sciences Faculty, University of Calabar, Nigeria. She was employed on the 25th January 2016 and presently serves as the Departmental Co-ordinator for the CES Programme. She attended the University of Zululand, South Africa for her M.Sc.(2010) and Ph.D studies (2016), also at the University of Calabar, Nigeria for her B.Sc (2005). and Diploma studies (1998), all in Social Work. She is a member of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASOW), has served as a Graduate Assistant in The Department of Social Work, University of Zululand, South Africa (2008-2011). Furthermore, She has served as an Associate Editor with The International Journal of Health, Wellness and Society (2012), and also a onetime Chairperson for the University of Zululand International Students’ Society (U.Z.I.S.S.) for 2009/2010 academic session. She has extremely good communication and listening skills, a good team player, with ability to work and produce maximum result with minimal supervision. Highly resourceful with a strong drive for quality and excellence, good inter-personal relationship and always with a fresh zeal to learn and broaden her horizon. Although an Eclectic Social Worker, Uzoh’s research interests are basically trained towards Medical Social Work and social policy in all sphere of practice, whether with individuals, the family, groups, the community (rural or urban), school and hospital practice settings. She is also passionate and actively involved about gender issues and the vulnerable in the society. She has published works and have attended conferences both locally and internationally.
