EmailEdet, Essien (Ph.D) studied Theatre Arts in the University of Calabar. He later obtain a Master of Arts Degree in Arts Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Arts Management from the same University where he now teaches Arts Administration/Management, Script/Playwriting, Acting, Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), Radio/Television Production to both undergraduate and graduate students. Essien's interest in the Performing Arts remains keen. He has featured in many Stage, Radio and Video/Film productions in some capacities including directing. Essien Played a lead in the Gold Gong First Prize winner for Cross River State in the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST)'s 1992 main event-drama. In 1997, he equally won a Silver Gong (Second Prize) for the state in NAFEST. Edet Essien is a member of professional bodies including the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP)-Cross River State Chapter, Nigeria Popular Theatre Alliance (NPTA) and Ex-officio member, Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN)-Cross River State. Essien who is currently an Associate Professor, has written and published many plays and in many international and local journals. He is married with kids.
