Mr Daniel Oku is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics, University of Calabar, Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary school education in Nguti, South West Province in the Republic of Cameroon. He later proceeded to Nigeria and obtained a B.Sc. degree in Electronics and Computer Technology in 2007 and in 2010, he secured a Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship to the University of Manchester, England where he earned an M.Sc. degree with merit in Advanced Control and Systems Engineering in 2011. He got employment as an Assistant Lecturer in the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2012 and returned to Nigeria, where he lectured for few years. Mr Oku later gained another Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship to the Centre for Wind Energy and Control System, University of Strathclyde, Scotland for a doctoral training. He is also simultaneously studying an online Maters degree in wind energy from Denmark Technical University (DTU), Lyngby, Denmark. He specializes in the modeling and control of linear and nonlinear dynamic systems and also covers research on renewable energy with focus on wind energy; spanning from wind farms design arrays and optimization and control techniques for wind turbines. Currently he is a member of an engineering research group under Strathunion at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland where they are designing a wind controlled vehicle for use in race to be exhibited for a competition at the Netherlands, in August, 2020. Administratively he was the Coordinator and Examination officer for Physical Oceanography Unit, Time Table Officer and Assistant Seminar Coordinator in the Department of Physics from 2015-2019, and was appointed the Predegree Examination Officer in 2017/2018 academic session. He is a member of two professional bodies, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Institute of Engineering and Technology and has several publications in international reputable journals.
