She was later upgraded to the rank of a Lecturer 11 in 2019 after a successful completion of a PhD Degree in Plant Physiology from the Department of Plant and Ecological Studies, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Calabar. Dr. Blessing Ngele has always been a teacher. She started her teaching career in 2009, when she was employed as a Biology teacher by the Cross River State Education Board. She served Cross River State as a prudent and dedicated teacher up until 2015 when she had to resign to take up the teaching appointment offered by the University of Calabar. This passion is driven by a desire to curb current environmental degradation and climate change challenges. She has also investigated tolerance of these species to environmental degradation; relating tolerance to some biochemical markers, including enzymes activity. Dr. Blessing has published a number of scientific papers in reputable local and international journals; she has also attended many seminars and conferences where she presented papers and made valuable contributions. She is a member of some professional associations including Organization for Women in Science in the Developing World, Botanical Association of Nigeria and Biopesticides Society of Nigeria.
