EmailDr Anthony Nuonum Ugbaja is a lecturer in the Department of Geology, University of Calabar. He joined the University in 2012 as Lecturer 1. He attended University of Calabar, where he obtained B.Sc. (Hons) Geology.1990, Diploma in Computer Science, 1996, Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geology (Environmental Geology/Pollution Studies).1997, M.Sc. (Hydrogeology/Engineering Geology) 1999 and Ph.D. (Hydrogeology) 2007. He has been teaching courses in Engineering Geology, Marine Geotechniques, Coastal Geomorphology, Groundwater Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Coastal Hydrogeology, Physical and Engineering properties of rocks, Geo-statistics, Geo-mathematics, Remote Sensing, Map Interpretations, Basic Field mapping and Industrial Geology. Anthony Nuonum Ugbaja is the Assistant Editor of the Faculty of Physical Science Journal- International Journal of Natural and Applied Sciences since 2012 till date. He has served the Department as Examinations Officer between 2012 and 2016. Dr Ugbaja was the first Acting Sub-Dean of Faculty of Physical Sciences (April - September 2016) and was elected substantive Sub Dean of his Faculty in October 2016 and he served till September, 2018. He is presently serving his second term in as Sub Dean of the faculty. He was a Consultant to Cross River State Poverty Reduction Agency on Ground water and well pump testing between 2005 and 2008, Consultant to Cross River State Community and Social Development Agency on Ground water between 2008 and 2014. Dr Ugbaja is credited with so many publications at both national and international journals. He currently has a myriad of postgraduate and undergraduate students under his supervision. Anthony Ugbaja is a member of many Professional bodies including Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, Nigerian Environmental Society, Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationist, Nigerian Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment and many others. Anthony Ugbaja loves reading, swimming and watching films. He is married with children.
