Prof. Angela Ekanem Oyo-Ita is a Professor of Community Medicine and chief consultant, Public Health. She is also the Deputy Director of Cochrane Nigeria. She graduated from the University of Calabar in 1988 with Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh). She also holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Calabar. She is a fellow of the West African College of Physicians (Community Health). Prof. Oyo-Ita has served in several capacities in the University, the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, and in Cross River State where she served in the State Executive as the Commissioner for Health. She has been involved in teaching and research for more than twenty years. Her research interest covers epidemiology, maternal and child health with focus on malaria and immunization. She has skills in conducting primary studies, including clinical and community trials, and systematic reviews. As part of her responsibilities in the Cochrane Collaboration she is involved in training and development of systematic reviews and promoting the practice of Evidence-based health care in Nigeria and the West African region.
