EmailUchenna Nwanchor, Alefia Ph.D was among the pioneer students of the Department of Mass Communication, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki where he graduated with B.A (Hons) Second Class Upper Division in 2005. Upon graduation, he proceeded to Delta State on a compulsory National Youth Service in 2005/2006 session and severed as the Corps Liaison Officer of Ndokwa East Local Government Area of NYSC. The quest to acquire more education and broaden his knowledge in Journalism prompted his enrolment for a Masters Degree programme (M.sc) immediately after his NYSC and obtained M.sc degree in Public Relations and Advertizing in 2012 at the same Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. This academic feat was crowned with a Ph.D in Broadcast Media and Communication in 2018 after over five years rigorous research. Dr. Nwanchor has been a voice to reckon with, having distinquished himself as a Reporter/Editor with the largest Radio Network in Africa, the Radio Nigeria for fourteen years where he cut his teeth as a Journalist from 1st November, 2007 to 24th February, 2020. He won the best Reporter award in Radio Nigeria in 2008 and 2010. Before joining Radio Nigeria, he had served as Sales Representative with the Daily Independent Newspapers in Ogba, Lagos. In his avowed determination to marry over fourteen years practical experience with Radio Nigeria as a Reporter/Editor with theoretical knowledge, he got appointment with the prestigious University of Calabar, Department of Mass Communication as a Lecturer to contribute his quota in the training of younger Journalists who can compete favourably with their contemporaries anywhere in the World. Dr. Nwanchor attended several conferences and seminars across Nigeria. He has also published some articles in many reputable Journals. He is a member of professional bodies including: Member Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ Ebonyi State Chapter where he served as the Chairman of the Union, Radio Nigeria, Unityfm, Abakaliki Chapter and his quest to clinch the Secretaryship position of the Union at the State level failed due high level of political interest, over-politicization and hijack of the Union by the powers that be in the State. Dr. Nwanchor is currently the Secretary of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Ebonyi State Chapter, member Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, ASCPN. He is also a member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR and Professional Broadcast Media Association of Nigeria, PBMAN. Dr. Nwanchor over time had succeeded in carving a niche for himself in the field of Journalism to the admiration of the younger generation before joining the league of academics as a lecturer.
