Engr. Ojong Elias Ojong was employed into the services of University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology University of Calabar in 2019. Prior to his appointment, he was a graduate trainee at Indorama, Eleme Fertilizer and Chemical Limited, Eleme LGA, Rivers State Nigeria. As a trainee, he worked hard and long on his given assignment to the admiration of his supervisors. He also served as a research assistant to Dr. A.A. Wordu and other senior lecturers in the Department of Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering, Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Before then, his academic career started at the Government Community Primary School Bendeghe-Ekiem, Etung Local Government Area, Cross River State, between 1994 -1999. He further proceeded to Crown Model College, Bendeghe Ekiem, Etung LGA between 2000 – 2008. Young Ojong was not satisfied with his lot in education, so he applied and sat for UTME in 2008 and got admission to the prestigious Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria where he bagged the Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering. In 2014, not done yet, he went for his masters of Technology in 2016 just after his one year compulsory National youths service programme in 2015. During his youth service at his primary assignment at Lagos State, Ojong was known for hard work and dedication to duty by his friends and colleagues. He was involved in humanitarian service as his community development service during his youth service in partnership with National agency for prohibition of traffic in person (NAPTIP) where he participated in public sensitization against human trafficking and kidnapping. His dedication to duty earned him a ₦500,000.00 scholarship grants during his undergraduate study which was awarded by Agbami Nigeria Limited, a local grant awarding body in support of Niger Delta University Programme in Engineering Science and Medicine. He has published over 10 articles in international peer review journals. He is a team player, hence he collaborated with like minds in some of his research work. He is a member of the prestigious Nigeria Society of Engineers and Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers. Zero zero one (001) as he fondly called by professional colleagues, close associates and friends is married to his heartthrob Mrs. Ojong Juliet Chidima and the marriage is blessed with two smart kids.
