EmailDr. (Mrs) Nancy Ernest Irek started her career as a Civil Servant in Cultural Centre Board of Cross River State Government in 1993 as Cultural Officer 11 and her appointment was confirmed in 1995. She was redeployed to the then Ministry of Public Utilities to cover the activities of the office of the Commissioner in 2004. She was later posted to the Office of the Wife of Cross River State Governor as Chief Information Officer where she rose to the rank of Director of Information in 2015. Dr Irek later transferred her services to the University of Calabar, Calabar as Lecturer I in the Department of Theatre, Film and Carnival Studies in 2015. She has been teaching, researching and mentoring students in the Department since joining the University. She is presently serving the Department as Examinations Officer and Welfare Officer. Dr Nancy Irek has published many articles in both local and international peer reviewed journals. She has attended many local and international conferences in her area where she presented papers. Dr Irek is a member of many professional bodies including the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists, Nigerian Union of Journalists and Nigerian Women Journalists. Dr Irek loves playing table tennis and football, reading and listening to good music. She is married with children.
