Ushuple Lucy Mishina was employed to the department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, University of Calabar, Calabar on the 27th of September, 2018 as an assistant lecturer. Ushuple holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of Calabar, Calabar and a Masters degree of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. Ushuple Lucy teaches different courses in linguistics which includes but not restricted to Syntax, Morphology, Dialects and Dialectology, Basic Grammar, Introduction to Linguistics. Cross River People and Culture and Naming in Cross River. Ushuple has attended some conferences and has conducted some researches on the following topics: Shift in Bendi Naming Practices, Kinship Terms in Tiv, The role of Language in the intellectual Development of the Bette Child, The Tension of Unity and Conflict in Multilingualism, The role of English Language in Nigerian Development, Language Styles of Advertising in Harper’s Bazaar Magazine and many others that are ongoing. Ushuple has also collaborated with other Scholars in Linguistics who include Mr. J.T, Tyoh, Mr. O. N. Ogar and Mr.I. Iskandar. Ushuple is a member of Professional bodies like The West African Linguistics Society (WALS), Linguistics Association of Nigeria (LAN) and Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU). Ushuple is visible on Research Gate and has five publications.
