About Dr. Justin Atiang Beshel

Dr. Justin Atiang Beshel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2008. He proceeded to Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria and obtained a Master of Science degree in Physiology and later, was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2012. Dr. Beshel specializes in cardiovascular Physiology with a special interest in blood pressure and natural products and neurophysiology with a special interest in neurobehavioural studies. Dr. Beshel, as a young Nigerian, underwent the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps in the Department of Physiology, Ebonyi State University, Nigeria where he was later employed as a Technologist II in 2011. Dr Beshel later moved to Cross River University of Technology, where he served as Lecturer II between 2012 and 2015. Dr. Beshel gained another employment as a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Physiology, University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2017. His excellent teaching and research records got him nominated by his country, the Federal Government of Nigeria in May, 2018 to embark on Foreign Missions to Uganda under the Technical Aid Corps Scheme. He was consequently deployed to Kampala International University, Western Campus, Uganda, where he held a Senior Lecturership position in the Department of Physiology. As a visiting Lecturer to Mount Zion International University of Rwanda- Kigali, he was appointed the founding Head of Department of Physiology in 2018, and subsequently appointed Associate Professor of Physiology, Texila American University, Lusaka – Zambia in 2019. Over the years, he has taught, mentored, supervised and trained both Medical and Biomedical Students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Justin Beshel has successfully supervised and co-supervised over five post-graduate students. He has successfully published over twenty articles spread across both local and foreign peer-reviewed reputable journals. He has attended several scientific conferences and presented quality research papers. He has also served as a Facilitator/Instructor to the National Open University of Nigeria and also as an Adjunct Lecturer to Cross River University of Technology, Nigeria. He is a member of the International Brain Research Organization, Physiological Society of Nigeria, Africa Association of Physiological Sciences and a Peer Education Trainer. He is currently focusing on the effects of some medicinal plants and possible mechanisms of action in hypertension, myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus and memory impairment.
