About Dr. John Ben Effiong

Dr. Effiong John B. is an excellent administrator, mentor, researcher, public analyst, resource person, academic and community mobilizer. His commitment and indulgence to duty coupled with his innovative and creative aptitude as well as invaluable contribution towards the development and growth of the practical programme in his department and the institution at large remain indelible legacies for posterity. Dr. Effiong has a Ph.D degree in Rural Sociology and Development. His research interests are in the areas of Rural development, Agricultural Extension, Rural Sociology, Livelihoods, Well being, Gender studies and Indigenous Knowledge Systems. He is a regular participant in many local and international conferences where he made presentations in some. Dr. Effiong has published over thirty articles in many local and international peer reviewed learned journals. He has written and edited chapters in books. He is the current Secretary/Business Editor of the Journal of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Issues. Finally, Dr. Effiong is a member of many professional associations amongst which include; Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria, Society for Indigenous Knowledge and Development, Agricultural Society of Nigeria, Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria, International Research and Development Network, Children and Youth in Agricultural Programme Network in Nigeria and European Centre for Research Training and Development, UK.
