About Dr. Eshan Blessing Henshaw

Dr Eshan Henshaw is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, and an honorary Chief Consultant Physician/Dermatologist & Venereologist to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital. She joined the services of the University in 2011 as Lecturer 1 and was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2014. Dr Henshaw obtained her MBChB degree in 1998 from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, and trained in Dermatology & Venereology at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Lagos State, Nigeria. She was awarded the Fellowship of West African College of Physicians (FWACP) by the West African College of Physicians in 2010. Dr Henshaw has been serving as an examiner with the West African Postgraduate Medical College since 2016 till date. Her research interests include general medicine, dermatoepidemiology, adolescent skin health, sexually transmitted infections, including the impact of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) on the skin. She has over 19 published scholarly articles in both local and international journals. She has attended and presented several papers at dermatology conferences in and outside Nigeria. They include conferences organised by the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, American Academy of Dermatology, European Association of Dermatology and Venereology, International League of Dermatologic Societies, and the International Society of Dermatology, which she is also a member. Dr Henshaw chaired the Local Organizing Committee for the 11th Annual conference of Nigerian Association of Dermatologists (NAD) in Calabar in 2017. She served as the Examinations Officer in the Department of Internal medicine between 2016 and 2018.
