Dr Daniel Ewa Ikpi is a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. He gained employment in the University in 2010 as a Lecturer II and was promoted to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2015. He attended the University of Calabar, Calabar between 1990 and 2015, where he obtained his B.Sc. degree in Physiology (1995), M.Sc. degree in Physiology (2008) and a Ph.D degree in Gastrointestinal Physiology in 2015. He is a beneficiary of the Canadian DFAIT Commonwealth scholarship that he used in undergoing a six month training in neurobehaviourin Dalhousie University, Halifax,Canada. His main research interests include gastrointestinal physiology, reproduction, endocrinology, haematology and neurobehaviour. Dr Ikpi has been involved in teaching, research and other academic activities since he returned back to the University of Calabar. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised over seven graduate students. He has attended several local and international conferences where he presented papers. His contributions to the academic community have been published in reputable peer reviewed academic journals. Dr Daniel Ikpi has served his Department and the University in other capacities including Examinations Officer (2012-2015) and Physiology Department Curriculum Review Committee between 2017 till date. He is a member of Physiological Society of Nigeria and Neuroscience Society of Nigeria.
