Amabe OtoAbasi Akpantah is a professor of Anatomy(Reproductive Endocrinology/Neurotoxicity) with the department of Anatomical Sciences, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Calabar. She is a very experienced lecturer with more than fifty-four publications in learned journals. She is from ukanafun local government area of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. She studied in University of Calabar for a first degree(B.Sc.) in Anatomy, Masters degree in Anatomy(teratology)and then proceeded to the university of Lagos for a Ph.D. in Anatomy(Reproductive endocrinology). Her research areas are: Reproductive Anatomy, Teratology and Neurotoxicity. She has been lecturing for the past twenty-six years at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is currently researching on hormonal profile and fertility enhancing properties of some indigenous and commonly consumed nuts and herbs in her country, Nigeria. She is a member of many scientific bodies locally and internationally such as, Anatomical Society of Nigeria (ASN), Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), Society of Experimental and Clinical Anatomist of Nigeria (SECAN), Anatomical Society of West Africa(ASWA), Society of Endocrinologist in Nigeria, Society of Neuroscientist of Africa(SONA), Organisation of Women Scientists in Developing Countries(OWSD), International society for Neurochemist(ISN) , Federation of Associations of Anatomists of Nigeria and others. She has attended many conferences locally in Nigeria and internationally in countries like, Ghana, Morrocco, South Africa, United Kindom etc. She has served her department in various capacities as a head of department(Twice), examination officer, a member of the disciplinary and examination malpractice committee, chairman, departmental graduate committee and in other adhoc committees. She has served as an external examiner at both undergraduate and post graduate levels to many universities including, University of Uyo; University of Cross River State; University of Portharcourt; Ebonyi state University; University of Ilorin; University of Lagos, all in Nigeria. She has supervised over fifty undergraduate projects and ten postgraduate thesis. She has been an academic adviser to many successful students and is involved in counselling and advising students in different categories. Her hobbies are Reading, sewing, listening to music.
