Mrs. Victoria Inyang Emeka

Victoria Inyang Emeka is a lecturer ll in the Department of Physical Oceanography, Faculty of Oceanography, University of Calabar. Her current research focuses on micropaleontology with special emphasis on foraminifera in coastal sedimentary environments. Other fundamental areas of research interest include sediment dynamics in fluvial and brackish water environments. She graduated from the University of Calabar with a BSc in Marine Geology (2002) and an MSc in Marine Sedimentation (2014). In 2016, She completed an MSc in Applied Marine Geosciences in Bangor University, United Kingdom. She is currently on a PhD programme at the University of Calabar. Victoria joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2011 as an Administrative Assistant and became an Assistant Research Fellow after obtaining her MSc degree in 2014. She was promoted to Lecturer II in October 2016, a position which she currently holds. She has served diligently in various capacities in the university including; Examinations Officer (2018 - date), Faculty representative at the Faculty Board of Allied Medical Sciences (2018- Date); Secretary, Institute of Oceanography Annual Committee (2013-2015). Ad-hoc Member, Strategic and Management Committee of the Institute of Oceanography (2011-2014). Victoria has participated in various academic workshops and presented papers in both local and international conferences. She currently has three academic publications and several others in press. She is a recipient of several awards and fellowships including; University of Calabar Scholarship Award (2003), ExxonMobil Undergraduate Scholarship Award (2004), AGIP Postgraduate Scholarship Award (2011), University of Calabar Study Fellowship (2013) and NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Award (2015). She currently participates in teaching and carrying out both field and laboratory-based research in the Department of Physical Oceanography. She is a member of various professional bodies including Marine Atmosphere and Coastal Research Network (MACORN, UNICAL), Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research and British Sedimentological Research Group (BSRG) .
