Dr. Ubong Ekpenyong Eyo is an academic staff in the Department of Religious and Cultural Studies at the University of Calabar. He joined the University in 2010 as an Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to the rank of Lecturer I in 2017. He obtained a Bachelor in Divinity at The Theological College of Northern Nigeria, an affiliate of the University of Jos in 2004. In 2001, Dr. Ubong Eyo was awarded a certificate in Ecumenical studies from the Ecumenical Institute, Bossey, Geneva-Switzerland and later obtained a master's degree in Ecumenical Theological from the University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland in 2011. He was also awarded a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt (2008) and Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (New Testament) from the University of Calabar, Calabar in 2016. Dr Eyo’s main area of research is biblical studies and gender. Since joining the services of the University, he has been teaching, mentoring and researching thereby contributing to scholarship. Dr. Eyo has successfully published over fourteen journal articles and book chapters spread across both local and international peer-reviewed journals. He is a regular participant in many conferences, workshops, symposia and seminars where he presents papers and also makes useful contributions. He has also served the University in other capacities including Chairman, Welfare Committee (2019 till date) and Secretary, Post Graduate Committee (2020 till date). Dr Eyo is a member of many professional bodies including the Nigerian Association for the Study of Religions, Nigerian Association for Biblical Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities Association of Nigerian Universities and many others. Dr. Eyo is a clergy serving with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, having been ordained in 1995. Currently, he is the Secretary of the Board of Faith and Order, the largest board of the church. He is a family person. .
