Dr. Stella Oyom Bassey is a senior lecturer of Human Nutrition and Dietetics Unit in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calabar. Dr. Stella is blessed with the following qualifications; B.Sc. (Health Education), PGD (Nutrition and Food Science), M.Sc. (Nutrition and Food Science) and a Ph.D (Nutrition and Food Science) all from the University of Calabar. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2014 as Lecturer II. Prior to her transfer to the University of Calabar, she was a Director (Public Health) in charge of Food Safety and Inspection Services Unit in the Cross River State Ministry of Health. She has been an active academic in teaching and research. Consequently, she has graduated over 100 undergraduate. She has supervised and co-supervised 2 Ph.D, 4 M.Sc and 4 PGD students with many others ongoing. Dr. Bassey has been serving the Department of Biochemistry at several levels including acting Head of Department, Chairman of Committees et al. Dr. Bassey is a member of several professional bodies including: Member, Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Member Nutrition Society of Nigeria; Member, Nigeria Institute of Food Science and Technology (NFST); Member, Society for Experimental Biology of Nigeria (NISEB). Dr Stella is a Fellow of the West African College of Nursing. Dr. Bassey is a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ and an ardent servant of the Lord. Till date, she is an active chorister of the UNICAL Chapel of Redemption and other units in the Lord’s sanctuary. Dr. Stella Bassey is a virtuous wife to Prof. Celestine O. Bassey; a marriage blessed with two amazing children. .
