S. P. I. Agi hails from Ijegu-Yala in the YALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA of Cross River State. He attended St. Joseph's Primary School, Okuku, Yala L.G.A., Cross River State. He studied at St. Augustine Major Seminary, Jos, Plateau State; Urban VIII University, Rome (Italy); the City of London Polytechnic and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (England). A Seasoned Educationist, Dr. Agi is a Professor of Political Science (since 2009) of the University of Calabar where he has been teaching since March, 1990, and where he was Head of Department from October 1997-September 1998. He was again appointed Head of Department for three years beginning from October 2012. He was Subdean, Faculty of Social Sciences for a four years period, 1997-2011. Before then he taught Government and Politics in the Anambra State College of Education, then at Awka Anambra State from December 1980 to February 1990, and was Head of Department from 1985-1989. Dr. Agi has served the Cross River State Government at one time or the other in various capacities. He was member of Board of Directors, Cross River State Newspaper Corporation; member of Governing Council, Cross River State College of Education; Chairman, Governing Council, Cross River State College of Education, and Executive Chairman, State Primary Education Board. .
