Ph.D, Education Admin and Planning; Co-ordinator/Secretary CR-SACA; State Team Leader for CEDPA Positive Living Project; Consultant for MSH, Palliative Care Training Program; AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: Nursing, PallaDr Regina Ella, who is a registered nurse, astute administrator, public educator and researcher, is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing Sciences, University of Calabar. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2005 as Lecturer I after successfully completing her Ph.D programme in Educational Administration and Planning from the same University in 2004. Her other educational qualifications include M.Sc. degree in Educational Administration and Planning (Unical) in 1992, B.Sc. Nursing from the University of Ibadan (1987) and a Certificate in Health Planning and Management from the University of Benin, Benin City. She was registered in 1979 and 1982 as a Nurse and Midwife respectively. She was the winner of the best Academic Student Prize for Hospital Final examinations in School of Nursing, St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua – Uyo. She is also serving other institutions like the National Open University of Nigeria as part time Instructor/Facilitator. Mrs Regina Ella has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of students in the Department of Nursing Sciences since joining the University. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over three graduate students. Dr Ella’s academic publications in learned peer review journals are in excess of thirty-five. She is a regular participant in many health and other related academic conferences in her area of specialisation and this has afforded her opportunities to make presentations. She has participated in many health-related outreach programmes within and outside Nigeria. Dr Ella is a beneficiary of many grants and scholarships including a grant awarded by the Cross River State Government for the Undergraduate Nursing Students’ Experiences during Clinical Practice, in University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, Nigeria. Dr Regina Ella was a member of the Cross River State Palliative Care Advisor for HIV for Centre for Development and Population Activities between 2007 and 2010, State Team Leader and Master Trainer for CEDPA Palliative Home-based Care and Prevention Activities (2007-2010), Secretary/Co-coordinator, Cross River State Action Committee on AIDs Response between 2006 and 2007 and many others. Dr Ellas outreach programmes are numerous. She has been sponsoring awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS in every youth programme. Dr Regina Ella is a recognized member of many professional associations within and outside Nigeria including International Council of Nurses, Fellow, West African College of Nursing, Honour Society for Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International, American Public Health Association, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Association of Nurse Educators, NANDA- I African Network, Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators of Nigeria, National Association for Educational Administration and Planning amongst many others.
