Dr Patrick Ene Okon, a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR) and Fellow of Chartered Institute of Administrators (FCAI), holds a PhD in Mass communication; and joined the University in May 2017. He teaches journalism, public relations, advertising and organisational communication. He has served in many Government capacities - Supervisory Councillor for Works (Odukpani Local Government), Honourable Member (Cross River State House of Assembly), Special Assistant to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Special Assistant to Minister of Finance, Hon. Member (Federal House of Representatives, Abuja), pioneer Director of Operations (Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency - CRISSAA), Executive Chairman (Akpabuyo Local Government), and Director-General (CRS Broadcasting Digitization Programme). He also belongs to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) as well as International Association of Lions Clubs, where he had served as District Governor (for the whole of Nigeria) in 1994-1995.He has to his credit some publications and many peer-reviewed articles in professional journals. He has successfully supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is an avid writer who loves travelling, reading and making friends. Dr Okon, an ordained minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, is married to Immaculata and is blessed with six lovely and successful children. .
