Dr. Otobong Benjamin Iren is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management, University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State. She obtained both her B. Agric. (Upper Division) in Soil Science and M.Sc. (Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition) at the University of Calabar while her Ph.D. in Soil fertility/Fertilizer Technology was at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. She was a scholar of United African Company (UAC) during her undergraduate programme in UNICAL. She is a registered member of the International Union of Soil Science, The Nigerian Institute of Soil Science, Soil Science Society of Nigeria, Agricultural Society of Nigeria and Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institution. Iren has supervised many undergraduate and post graduate students in the university. She has published over 45 articles in reputable journals (both international and local) and has attended many conferences/workshops. She is a reviewer in many journals including Science domain Journals, Organic Agriculture Journal, Journal of Agricultural Science and Environment etc. Her research interests are in the areas of soil fertility and plant nutrition, fertilizer technology, waste management, reclamation of acidic soils, remediation of polluted soils and integrated nutrient management. Iren has held several administrative positions at the Departmental, Faculty and Institutional levels..
