Dr (Mrs) Okot-Asi Thomas Nku-Ekpang was employed into the University of Calabar in 2008 as an Administrative Assistant. She served in that position for four years before she was converted to academic staff as Assistant Lecturer in 2012 after the completion of her M.Sc. (Physiology) programme with the University of Lagos in 2010. She was later promoted to the rank of Lecturer II in 2015. Dr Nku-Ekpang holds a Ph.D in Physiology obtained from the University of Calabar in 2016. She is a beneficiary of the University of Calabar study fellowship in 2014 which enabled her to complete her PhD programme. Dr Nku-Ekpang has been involved in teaching, research, project supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students for the past seven years. Her main area of specialization is blood physiology with research interest in ameliorating the effect of anaemia using some medicinal plants. She is presently serving her Department as Examinations Officer. She has many publications in reputable local and international journals in her area of specialisation. She is also a regular participant in many local and foreign conferences, workshops and symposia where she has been making presentations.
