Dr. O. N. Neji is a researcher, chartered mediator, consultant in peace conflict matters and trainer. He holds a PhD and Master of Arts (M.A) degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. He has five professional certifications from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) USA in the following areas; Negotiation and Conflict Management, Conflict Analysis, Interfaith Conflict Resolution, Implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) in Africa and Principles and Guidelines for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. Neji is a facilitator with the Naval War College (NWC) Nigeria, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Alternative Dispute Resolution Department, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) etc. Before joining the University of Calabar in 2017 as Lecturer II in the Department of Political Science, Neji served as the managing consultant of Contacts and Partners Ltd where he worked as a consultant to the USAID supported Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and conducted a Peace and Conflict Risk Assessment for the CRS SMILE project in Benue and Nasarawa States, Nigeria. He also consulted for organizations including the International Republican Institute (IRI), European Union/International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). His research interest covers the broad spectrum of Peace and Conflict Studies, Civil Society Organizations, Peacebuilding, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Conflict Sensitivity, political behaviour, election, religion, development and conflict. Neji is a member of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), Chartered Institute of Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA) and Global Ministries and Infrastructures for Peace (GAMIP). He is a Fellow with the Institute for French Research in Africa (IFRA) and has published in local and international journals. He subscribes to the philosophy of continuous improvement..
