Dr. Michael Otu Eyong

Dr.Michael Otu Eyong started his teaching career as an auxiliary teacher at St. Martin's Primary School, Ikom soon after obtaining his West African School Certificate in 1971 from St. Brendan's Secondary School, Yanmoyong. He subsequently joined the Veterinary Division of the Ministry of Agriculture in the then Civil Service of the Southeastern State of Nigeria as a Livestock- Assistant- in- Training in 1973. He was elevated to the rank of Livestock Superintendent after obtaining a Diploma in Animal Health and Husbandry from University of Nigeria in 1976. He served the Veterinary Division up to 1987 where he proceeded again to the University of Nigeria in 1988 and obtained a B. Agric. (Soil Science) in 1992. He got an appointment in the former Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture (IBBCA) Ovonum, Obubra Cross River State of Nigeria as a Lecturer 111 in 1993. He taught there briefly and then joined the services of the University of Calabar on transfer of service as a Graduate Assistant in 1996. He secured fellowships for his master and Doctorate degrees in Pedology in the University of Calabar and rose to the rank of a Senior Lecturer. He has presented papers in several conferences with published works in both local and international journals. He looks forward to becoming a professor of Pedology in the nearest future. .
