Agiang, Margaret Akpana studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria were she graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Biochhemistry; then had M.Sc and PhD degrees in Nutritional Biochemistry in the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. She also attended a short course and had a certificate on Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of food and nutrition security programmes at the Centre for Development Innovation (CDI), Wageningen, The Netherlands, 4-22 June, 2012. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calabar, teaching general Biochemistry, nutritional Biochemistry, with research interests in Food analysis/Nutritive value of food, Clinical nutrition, Medicinal food research, Nutritional toxicology. She is a member of Nigeria Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), Nutrition society of Nigeria (NSN), Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology (NISEB), Nutrition Society (NS), UK and Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN). She has published several academic articles in reputable international and local journals; attended many academic conferences, both local and international and supervised several post graduate theses and undergraduate projects in various areas of Biochemistry and nutrition, with many still in progress. She is a practicing Catholic and happily married with five children.
