Dr. Lawrence Ekwok is an academic with deep interest in Mass Communication and Media Studies. He studied at the Polytechnic, Calabar where he obtained a National Diploma in Mass Communication in 1989. He went further to study and obtained a Bachelors degree in English and Literary Studies, a Masters and Doctorate degrees in Media Studies from the University of Calabar in 1997, 2012 and 2016 respectively. He joined the University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer in 2013 in the Department of Theatre and Media Studies. Dr Ekwok later moved to the Department of Mass Communication where he continued teaching and researching in the area of Mass Communication especially Journalism and Media Studies. He was promoted to the rank of Lecturer I in 2016 and has published over twenty Journal articles in both Local and International Journals. He has also attended several conferences within and outside Nigeria. He is also deeply involved in Community Service as he has served as the Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Cross River State Chapter since 2015 to date. Dr. Ekwok is a member of Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Nigeria Chapter.
