Dr. James Etim Archibong

Dr. James E. Archibong is a legal luminary, acclaimed scholar, researcher, administrator and educationist. He graduated from the prestigious University of Calabar with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1991. Thereafter, he was admitted into the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, and called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992. He also holds the Master of Laws (LLM) and PhD degrees of the University of Calabar, specializing in International Humanitarian Law. Dr. Archibong has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) at the National Teachers Institute (affiliated to the University of Port Harcourt). He joined the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar as Assistant Lecturer and attained the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2014. As a lecturer, he has taught several courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also supervised and graduated several postgraduate candidates, including at least six PhD recipients. Due to hard-work, diligence and commitment to duty, he was appointed Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Uyo from May 2, 2017 to May 3, 2018. In recognition of his flair for in-depth research, he was invited by the Canadian Centre of Science and Education, publishers of Journal of Politics and Law (JPL) to serve as a reviewer. Dr. Archibong has held and successfully served in the following areas: Examination Officer, Faculty of law; Member, Graduate School Theses Vetting Committee; Sub Dean, Faculty of Law (2010 – 2014); Faculty of Law Representative to the Senate of the University of Calabar (2014 -2015); Acting Head, Department of Jurisprudence and International Law – (2015 – 2017); Chairman, Faculty of Law Graduate Committee – 17th October, 2016; Coordinator; Unit G in the Graduate School – 20th March 2018; and Acting Head, Department of Private and Property Law (1st February, 2017 – 31st July). In response to an advertisement in the Vanguard newspaper calling on qualified persons to apply for the post of Provost of the Cross River State College of Education Akamkpa, Dr. Archibong applied for the job and was invited for interview on 4th July, 2018. Based on his excellent performance at the interview, the Visitor to the College and State Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade appointed him Provost of the College on 31st July, 2018, for a five-year term. He formally assumed duty at the College as Provost on 1st August, 2018. Dr. Archibong is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALTs). He is married with children. .
