Rt Hon. (Dr) Jacob Otu Enyia, formerly a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, is an astute politician, tactician, lawyer, seasoned administrator, community Leader, philanthropist and an academician. He took up a part time teaching appointment with Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2013. His appointment was formalized in 2015 when he joined the mainstream acadmic staff of the University as Lecturer I. He served in the Cross River State Local Government Service meritoriously for thirteen years before joining politics. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Banking and Finance obtained from the University of Calabar in1987 and MBA (1993) degree from the same University. He delved into the legal profession after being awarded a LL.B (2000), LL.M (2005) and Ph.D (2012) degrees from University of Calabar, Nigeria. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003 having obtained a B.L from the Nigerian Law School. He is an alumnus of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Lagos where he was awarded a Diploma certificate in Research Methodology, Planning Research and Statistics. Finally, Regenesses Business School, Johanesburg, South Africa and British Houses of Parliament, United kingdom awarded him certificates in Legislative Studies. Chief Enyia has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of students in the University since joining the University system. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Enyia has over twenty-five publications in both local and international peer review academic journals. Also, he has published four books and book chapters in telecommunication and consumer protection, banking and contract law. He has attended many local and international conferences where he has made presentations. Dr Enyia has served the University and his Faculty in various capacities including Acting Head of the Department of Commercial and Industrial Law (2019 till date), Faculty of Law Representative to the Faculty Allied Medical Sciences between 2015 and 2019, Chairman, Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the Faculty of Law and so on. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigeria Association of Law Teachers and Associate member of the Nigerian institute of Management. He is married with children..
