Dr. Iyorza Orjighjigh Stanislaus

Stanislaus Iyorza (Ph.D) was employed in the Information and Public Relations Department of the University of Calabar on the 7th of September 2001 after the completion of his mandatory one year National Youth Service, and assumed duty as Editor III on the 11th of September 2001. His appointment was converted to Assistant Lecturer in the academic cadre in June 2006. In 2009, Dr Iyorza was promoted to the rank of Lecturer II and in 2012; he was promoted to the rank of Lecturer I following the Department’s change in nomenclature to Theatre and Media Studies. He rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2015 and was transferred to the Department of Mass Communication and Digital Media in 2017. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Mass Communication from Benue State University in 2000, a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Theatre Studies from the defunct Department of Theatre and Media Studies in 2005 and a Ph.D in Theatre and Media Studies in 2010 with Media Advertising as his research area. He has edited both international and local journals in diverse areas of communication. He has also attended over fifteen (15) local and international conferences and presented papers at different forums. Dr Iyorza has also been a member of some local organizing committees for conferences including the Society of Nigerian Theatre artist conference, Calabar 2012, Calabar Conference on Theatre and Media Studies 2015 and Faculties of Arts and Humanities Association of Nigerian Universities (FAHSANU) Conference, University of Calabar, Cross River State in April 2018. He is a member of professional associations including African Council for Communication and Education (ACCE), African Theatre Association (AFTA) and Society for Nigerian Theatre Artists (SONTA). Dr Iyorza has over thirty (30) publications including local and international journals, books, book chapters, monographs and conference proceedings..
