Professor Israel Nsitelem Eme Worugji, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria, is a Nigerian of full blood, from Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He attended the Baptist High School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria where he passed the West African School Certificate Examination with Division One(1) in 1975. He proceeded to England on Rivers State Government Scholarship for further studies in 1977; attended the Stockport College of Technology, Stockport, where he obtained the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Studies in 1979; the Metropolitan University (formerly Manchester Polytechnic) Manchester, where he obtained the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours degree in Law in 1982; and the University of Essex for the Master of Laws (LLM) degree in 1984. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984 after completing the professional training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos; and also has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Ibadan (2010). His special areas of academic interest are Labour and Industrial Relations Law, International Human Rights Law; and Customary Law and Women’s Rights Law. Professor I.N.E Worugji was a former Head of Department, Public & International Law, former Sub- Dean and Dean of Law, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, a former member of the University of Calabar Governing Council; and a former Principal officer and National Legal Adviser of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, International Labour and Employment Association (ILERA); African Labour Law Society (ALLS) and International Society of Labour and Social Security Law (ISLSSL) and he is widely published. He received the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers Long Service Award of Excellence in May 2016. He is a Christian of strict discipline, married to Dr. Mrs. Gloria Eme Worugji; a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Calabar, and the marriage is blessed with four children. .
