Grace Sunshine David is a researcher in the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management. She was employed as a graduate assistant in 2011 and was promoted to lecturer II in 2017. She holds a B.Agric (Hons) (Crop Science) degree (2nd class upper division (4.12 CGPA) from University of Calabar (2008); M.Sc. Plant breeding and Genetics degree (5.00 CGPA), from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (2014) and currently a Ph.D student in the University of Calabar. Grace has excellent communication skills, good organizational ability, analytic, can work independently, very enthusiastic to learn and a positive attitude. She has won several awards amongst which are: University Merit Scholarship Award 2005/2006, Best graduating student Crop Science 2007/2008, Overall best student Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management 2007/2008, Prof Ivara Esu’s Award for best graduating student in the Faculty of Agriculture 2007/2008, Award of excellence by Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), University of Calabar, for best student in Crop Science 2007/2008, Award of study fellowship by University of Calabar 2011-2013 and Award of fellowship by AfricaRice Center, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan in 2012. Her research interest is on developing high yielding, high tillering capacity and well adaptable upland rice varieties using both conventional breeding as well as biotechnology, this is in collaboration with AfricaRice center, International Institute of Agriculture, IITA Ibadan. She has also participated in some conferences and still looking forward to more and has been involved in some administrative duties. .
