Dr. George Eni Eni

Dr. George Eni is a senior lecturer and an alumnus of the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. He graduated from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, University of Calabar with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences (Fisheries) in 1985. He was awarded an M.Sc. (Fisheries and Aquaculture) and PhD (Environmental Pollution and Toxicology) degrees by the same University in 2002 and 2019 respectively. He joined the services of the University of Calabar in 1997 as a graduate assistant and he has risen through the ranks to his present designation as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, University of Calabar. He is a researcher with over ten years of experience in aquatic ecology research with a bias on the health of the aquatic environment with a special interest in the interactions between toxics and aquatic biota. He has mentored several students over the years in this area of research both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has several visible scientific publications/articles in many peer-reviewed academic journals. Current research focuses on the possible adverse effects of selected pesticides and their impacts on resident microbiota and possible ecosystem effects. Dr George Eni is a member of the many professional bodies including the Fisheries Society of Nigeria and Nigerian Environmental Society.
