Dr. Friday Ogar Idiku was employed in the University of Calabar, Calabar on November 3, 2010 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension. He was promoted to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2017. Dr. Idiku is a holder of Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (2015), M.Sc. Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (2006) and B. Agric in Agricultural Economics and Extension (1998) all from the University of Calabar. He also holds a certificate in Training and Extension from Practical Training Centre Plus (PTCplus) in Barneveld, the Netherlands in 2013. Since joining the University, Dr. Idiku has been engaged in teaching, researching, and mentoring and Community development both within and outside the University Community. He has won several scholarship/research grants to include Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship, Association of Commonwealth Universities (AU) grants, International Hidden Hunger Congress grant and Tetfund grant. He has participated in several local and International Conferences with papers presented in U.S.A., Germany, Netherlands and delivered numerous talks in different fora. Dr. Idiku has successfully supervised over 6 Post graduate students and numerous undergraduate students since joining the services of the University. He is highly published and a reviewer with several reputed journals and has contributed chapters in published books. Dr. Idiku is a Member of several professional bodies like the Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN); Development Research uptake in Sub Saharan Africa (DRUSSA); Agriculture – Nutrition Community of Practice, Worldwide, International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE); University of Bebraska – Lincoln; Global Forum on Agricultural Advisory Services and Lecturers without Borders International. Dr. Idiku has held several positions such as Examination Officer, Chairman, Departmental Post Graduate Committee, Sub Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and currently the Acting Head of Department, Agricultural Extension & Rural Sociology, University of Calabar. He is happily married with children..
