Prof. Ephraim Onoku Osai

Prof. Ephraim Onoku Osai holds a B.Sc (Hon) Degree in Botany from University Calabar, M.Sc in Agricultural Biology and Ph.D with specialisation in Plant Pathology from University of Ibadan. He has taught and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student including three Masters and three Doctorate students. His research interest covers Ecology, Etiology, Development and Management Fungi Diseases in major food and cash crops and has made breakthroughs in the use of ashes from agricultural wastes in plant disease management. He has also recorded success with the field application of plant extract in disease control. A recipient of University of Calabar senate grant and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) Institutional research and conference grant, this current research are; on post-harvest diseases of tropical fruits, nutritional changes coursed of pathogens and their control true eco-friendly alternatives; and constraints to economic production of plantain in Cross River State. Prof. Osai belong to several professional bodies including Nigerian Society for plant protection Bio-pesticides society of Nigeria, Mycological society of Nigeria and organic agriculture project in lechery institutions in Nigeria. He has participated in local and international conferences and was a member of the local organizing committee for the 12th annual conference of the Mycological Society of Nigeria (Calabar 2012) and the 1st and 2nd annual conferences of Bio Pesticides Society of Nigeria (Calabar 2014-2015). Prof. E.O. Osai was the founding secretary to the Editorial Board of the Faculty of Agriculture based Journal of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment and a Reviewer with Global Journal of Science, Global Journal of Agriculture, Bios’ Pesticides Journals, Journal of Agriculture food and Environment etc. He has served as External Examiner (LSc) to the University of Uyo and a two time head of department of Crop Science, University of Calabar, Calabar. He has been a Sub-Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, Chairman of Departmental and Faculty Graduate committees as well as Chairman of Departmental Quality Assurance and Examination Ethics among other position. .
