Mr. Enya Anari Akpa

Enya Anari Akpa is a humble and hardworking lecturer, a researcher and an enthusiastic Soil Scientist with a bias in Soil Physics and Hydrology in the Department of Soil Science, University of Calabar. He was born on the 16th November, 1978 at Anong Likpo, Nigeria to the family of late Mr.Anari Akpa & Mrs. Jenny Anari Akpa, subsistence farmers, whose parentage was from Anong Letafor & Anong Likpo, Ekureku Ward I in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. He had his early education at St.Vincent’s Primary School, Anong between 1983 and 1988 and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). Between 1989 and 1994, he attended Agbo Comprehensive Secondary School Egboronyi, a school he held a post of Assistant Senior Prefect (ASP) during 1993/1994 Session and obtained his Senior School Examination Certificate (SSCE). After his Secondary School Education, he proceeded to Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture, Ovonum, Obubra, Cross River State and obtained National Diploma (ND) in Agricultural Technology at Upper Credit in 2005. He furthers his studies to Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture, Yandev, Gboko, Benue State, where he bagged his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agricultural Engineering Technology (Soil & Water Engineering Option) at Upper Credit in 2007. While waiting for his mandatory NYSC, he taught briefly at Favor Bound Secondary School, Emege in 2008 and Ekureku Community Secondary School, Anong in 2009. Between 2010 and 2011, he went in for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State, where he was deployed as a class room teacher at Joeson Excellence Sec. Sch., Ilesha Baruba, Baruteen LGA. After completing my NYSC in 2011, he was not satisfied with the level of education attained; he started another programme through Jamb Direct Entry admission gained into University of Calabar, where he bagged B. Agric. (Soil Science) at Second Class Upper Division in 2015, the best graduating student in the Department, where he received an award of Pa Ejemot Esu Memorial Prize for the best graduating student in the Department of Soil Science, 30th Convocation of the University of Calabar, 2017. During the B. Agric.(Soil Science) Programme with the University, he joined the service of the University of Calabar as a Hall Supervisor with the Centre for Educational Service (CES) in 2011, where his appointment was converted to the Mainstream of the University of Calabar as an Agric. Officer II in 2013 and Graduate Assistant in the Department of Soil Science in 2017 as a lecturer after completing the B. Agric.(Soil Science) Programme . He obtained M. Sc. in Soil physics and soil and water management from the same University. He is a member, Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) since March, 2015. Conferences, he has attended include 41st Annual conference of Soil Science Society of Nigeria, Calabar, Cross River State, Advanced Training Programme on Organic Agriculture (ATPOA) organized by Department of Soil Science, University of Calabar in July, 2018 and STATA Training for Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project organized by USAID, Michigan State University in the University of Calabar, March, 2019. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed, globally recognized journals and his work is frequently cited in Journals and research work of students in areas of Soil Science. My current research interest is in the area of Soil physics and Hydrology. I am happily married with Children..
