Dr. Emon Umoe Duke joined the Service of the University of Calabar in August 2004 as Lecturer II. She rose to the rank of Lecturer I, Senior lecturer and Associate Professor progressively. Dr Duke attended Holy Child convent Ikom, she had WASC from Holy Child Secondary School , Mount Carmel, Ogoja in Cross River State. She did her general Nursing in school of Nursing, Katsina, Katsina State and came back to Cross River State for her midwifery education. She is a skilled Nurse/ Midwife. Emon Duke started her teaching carrier when she went to the Polytechnic for Teacher Education program and obtained Diploma in Nursing Education with distinction. She obtained her B.Sc Nursing (honors) from the University of Ibadan, M.Ed and Ph.D curriculum studies from University of Calabar, majoring in Teacher Education. Indeed Dr. Duke is a Nurse, a midwife and a teacher that is tested and proven. She has enjoyed grants and fellowship during her course of study, and even benefited from Unical study fellowship grant. Dr. Duke is a fellow of West African college of Nursing and has many other honorary awards. She has reviewed articles for many journals including elsevers. She has successfully supervised one PhD thesis, two masters Dessitation and one PGDE Project while Six (5) masters and 1 PhD project are ongoing. Dr. Duke has attended many conferences and in most of them she presented papers. She has served in LOC of many conferences. She was a member of a five (5) man team that represented University of Calabar on resources verification to Garden City University College, Ghana. Dr. Emon Duke is a member of ASSU-UCB, one time chairperson of National Association of Nigerian Nurses & Midwives of Nigeria (NANM), Past secretary general of Professional Association of Midwives of Nigeria PAMON, Member Association of Nigeria Nurse Educators (ANNE), one time treasurer of Curriculum Organization of Nigeria-UCB, and member, Graduate Nurses Association of Nigeria (GNAN). Dr. Duke is currently organizing an outreach on promoting awareness on cardiovascular diseases among women in two states in Nigeria (Cross River & Lagos states).Dr. Duke has published twenty Six (26) relevant articles in reputable journals to her credit. She has co published a handbook on partograph: a compulsory tool in midwifery practices and a text book, Anatomy and physiology of Obstetrics for Pupil Midwives and Midwives.
