Alfred Jalagbeyiwa Maclean Edema is a seasoned professional and an academician with over 30 years working experience. A Senior Lecturer, he was Head, Department of Business Administration, Veritas University, Abuja. He is currently serving as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Management, University of Calabar, where he joined in 2015. Alfred Edema is a diversified scholar with wide spectra of orientation across major and minor disciplines, which include Nigerian Institute of Management Professional Diploma in Management, an equivalence of B.Sc. Management (1993), Postgraduate Diploma in Management, University of Calabar, Calabar, (2000), M.Sc. Management (2006) and Ph.D Business Management (2011), Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (2004) degree with option in Marketing, Univerisity of Calabar, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (2005|), Usman Danfodio Univerisity, Sokoto; Advanced Certificate in Journalism (1999), Basic Certificate in Public Relations (1989), amongst others. He is a Fellow of National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Fellow of Institute of Leadership Learning in Nigeria, Member of Nigerian Institute of Management, Member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Member of Institute of Management Consultants, Associate of Institute of Chartered Management Accountants, and Member of Nigerian Institute of Training & Development. He has also served on the team of NUC accreditation of MBA programme in some Federal Universities in Nigeria. Alfred Edema is certified both as Teacher and Trainer by the Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria and Nigerian Institute of Training and Development, respectively. Also, he is the Chief Coordinating Officer and Lead Facilitator to Institute of Leadership Learning in Nigeria. Prior to this, he held the position of Senior Lecturer/Consultant at Nigerian Institute of Management, from 2009 to 2011. From 2000 to 2009, he held the office of Director of Studies/Institutional Head at Empire Journalism Centre, Port Harcourt. Also, he was Training Coordinator/Consultant to Nigerian Institute of Journalism, with a mandate to establish and run outreach training programmes in the South-South Zone of Nigeria. Dr, Edema has attended several professional and academic conference and workshops. He has published papers both in local and foreign journals. Alfred Edema pioneered the training of candidates for the professional examinations of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of Nigeria – now National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations as well as the establishment of centres for the conduct of the professional examinations of these Institutes respectively, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, representing the whole of South-South and some parts of South-East. His broad career mobility transcends the manufacturing and service sub-sectors, including professional organizations. He has handled various clerical, administrative and managerial responsibilities. Also, he has participated and presented papers at various seminars, workshops and conferences, with considerable academic and professional publications. Again, his career commitment has made him served on various committees of professional bodies. A member of both the Education Advisory Board of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and Editorial Board of the NIPR Journal, Dr. Edema believes in team work as a recipe for achieving desired goals through the efficient and effective use of resources and, leading by good example. .
