Mrs Edak Kanu Agi-Odey is a young, budding and certified Physical Oceanographer majoring in the area of Marine Geology. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2013 as an Assistant Research Fellow in the Institute of Oceanography. Upon the creation of the Faculty of Oceanography in 2017, she transferred her services to the Faculty, where she is currently serving as a Lecturer II in the Department of Physical Oceanography. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of Marine sedimentation and hydrodynamics, Coastal Geomorphology and Coastal Processes Monitoring. In 2006, she graduated from the University of Calabar with a B.Sc. degree in Marine Geology and went on to complete an M.Sc. degree programme in Petroleum Engineering at the London South Bank University, United Kingdom. Since joining the Department, she has been teaching, mentoring and researching thereby contributing to the graduation of students and the development of the University at large. She has attended many conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops where she made presentations. She has successfully published over five articles in peer-reviewed local and international journals. Her current research focuses on "Sedimentology with emphasis on sedimentary characterization in a fluvial environment". She has served diligently in various capacities in the University including; Examinations Officer in the Institute of Oceanography (2014 - 2016), Examinations Officer in the Department of Physical Oceanography (2020 - date), Faculty Representative at the Faculty Board of Management Sciences (2018- Date) and member, Institute of Oceanography Library Committee (2016 - 2018). She was a recipient of the Chevron Nigeria undergraduate sholarship award in 2002. She is a member of the Marine Atmosphere and Coastal Research Network and the British Society of Petroleum Engineers. Edak is happily married with children. .
