Professor Dorothy Oluwagbemi- Jacob attended University of Calabar where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1985. She obtained her Masters and Ph.D degrees in social and political philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1987 and 1994 respectively. She also has a post Graduate Diploma in management and Masters Degree in Business Administration. Professor Oluwagbemi-Jacob has risen through the ranks at the University of Calabar, where she has also served in various capacities as the Head of Department of Philosophy and Dean, Faculty of Arts. She has been rendering services to other Universities apart from her primary University of assignment in form of external examinations at first degree, Masters and PhD levels. Her teaching assignments have covered several courses including logic, social and political philosophy, modern philosophy, philosophy of history, European philosophy, Kant’s and Hegel’s philosophy and gender issues. In 2003, she was invited to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) at Yale University, New Haven-Connecticut, United States of America, for a post doctoral fellowship. The training and skill, which she acquired there, prepared her for the great work she has been doing as an HIV and AIDS prevention and care educator. She belongs to several professional associations including: 1. Philosophical Association of Nigeria (PAN). 2. Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians (Circle) 3. Faculties of Arts-Humanities Scholars Association of Nigeria (FAHSANU) 4. Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL). .
