The duration of exposure should be limited to that necessary, the distance from the source of radiation should be maximised, and the source shielded wherever possible. Majority of his research is into ways whereby radiation dose during radiologic examinations can be kept at the barest minimum without compromising on the quality of the final image produced. Also, his research area delves into occupational exposure to radiation and the levels to which radiation workers should be exposed to. The environment is not left out as it is a major contributor to human existence and he is currently working on background radiation, groundwater pollution, rocks, building materials etc and ways to reduce the effect of various forms of ionizing radiation from affecting the human population .
